Responsible Development

Lenexa has tremendous opportunity—and responsibility—with its remaining undeveloped acreage. John Michael’s background not only on the Planning Commission and Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee, but also as a professional real estate developer will help us keep Lenexa on track for smart, responsible development.

Housing

Attainable housing is on everyone’s minds, and our city’s future must include a diverse mix of housing types to ensure we stay vibrant and livable. That includes examining barriers to additional single family housing, but also guiding multifamily housing where it makes sense. John Michael feels strongly that enabling missing middle housing types will provide a broader range of options for our current and future residents.

Public Safety

Part of what makes Lenexa special is our robust and award-winning public safety departments. John Michael supports their funding and growth, and recognizes that among the many concerns we face, attracting and retaining new talent at the Lenexa Police and Lenexa Fire Departments is a major priority.

Parks and Recreation

In April 2024, Lenexa published a refreshed Parks and Recreation Master Plan which established priorities for the city for the next decade. In addition to supporting the improvements and new projects, John Michael is a frequent user and supporter of Lenexa’s robust network of trails. His intent is to continue to fund and grow this highlight of the city.

World Cup 2026

The World Cup is around the corner and our city has so much to offer! This presents an excellent opportunity for Lenexa to work alongside the rest of the metro to provide a world-class experience for visitors from around the world.

John Michael has already begun to support Pitch Lenexa and its goals to elevate the city during this time of unprecedented tourism and economic activity. He hopes to continue advocating for Lenexa’s inclusion in events and transportation for the 6-week event.
